The Swedish Nest
Baby nests have been used for centuries in Sweden, where they were first invented as medical devices to keep newborn and premature babies warm and secure.
The baby nest is a small bed that you can take anywhere. It provides your baby with a secure feeling and the raised edges ensure that he/she does not receive too much stimuli. This way you create a cosy and safe place for your baby to sleep.
At home, you can easily keep the baby nest with you and then, when you go out, you can take it with you, so that he/she always has his/her own familiar place to sleep.
The Swedish nest can be used in the bed between the parents*, in a baby cot, a cradle or in a pram.
*Note:
Do not share a bed with your baby if you are a smoker, have been drinking alcohol, if you take medication or drugs that make you drowsy, or if you feel exhausted.
Please note that soft objects such as pillows, quilts and stuffed toys should be kept out of the Swedish Nest.
Your baby can play safely in the baby nest.
Changing nappies:
You can place the baby nest on the changing table and release the strings so that it is open at the bottom. You can then use it to change your little one. Because of the upright edges the chances are slim that your baby will roll over and fall off the changing table, but be sure to supervise your baby at all times.
How to wash your Swedish Nest:
It can be washed on a gentle cycle in your washing machine.
Make sure that the adjusting string knot is tied securely.
Take out the inner ‘mattress’.
Do not dry in a tumble dryer.
Shake and massage it back to shape.
Make sure that it is totally dry and aired before putting the baby back into it
Warnings:
• Make sure your baby is not getting too warm.
• Never leave babies who can roll or crawl, unattended, especially when used on a flat or raised surface.
• When the baby nest is pulled into a tighter position, make sure the ropes are tied securely and kept out of the baby’s way.
• The Swedish nest does not replace an approved car seat.
• Do not share a bed with your baby if you are a smoker, have been drinking alcohol, if you take medication or drugs that make you drowsy, or if you feel exhausted.
• Don’t place close to an open fire or heater.
